Meeting the Requirements for a Barber License

Legally to be able to practice barbering in USA you need to be licensed. Barbers are regulated and licensed in all 50 states.

Each state sets forth the professional scope of the barbers it licenses, in general, barbers are licensed to provide the following services:

  • Haircuts and hair styling
  • Shaving/trimming the beard or mustache
  • Giving facial and scalp massages with lotions, creams, and oils
  • Chemically straightening or waving hair
  • Coloring or bleaching the hair
  • Cutting, measuring, and fitting wigs, hairpieces, or head caps
  • Other hair related services
